Evony is owned by UMGE (Universal Multiplayer Game Entertainment). Founded by a small group of avid Chinese game developers, UMGE is based in Guangzhou, China and develops online multiplayer games.

Prior to Evony, UMGE released Leuric, a multiplayer role playing Flash browser game where members of the two factions, Viking and Atlantian, battle against each other.

In parallel with Evony, UMGE is developing Surge of Valor, a Windows-based MMORPG.
