The reality is that, yes, there are victims. The other part of that reality is that people are stupid sheep, and think that they are always safe until the big bad wolf shows up, just that one time, and takes out on of them for lunch. Then, the sheep panic for about 10 minutes, and hide for about 10-15 minutes while they let someone else deal with it. Once it's "dealt with," which is usually nothing more than the wolf being chased away, they go right back to what they were doing, leaving them just as open to risk.
The only real "protection" that people would have would be to disconnect from the network completely and permanently. Unfortunately, that doesn't actually remove you from the networks as state and local governments become web connected, and financial institutions become more and more web-based.
So, where does that leave us? Education for the masses. (yeah, like that actually works.) Parents, time to begin continuing education for yourselves! Learn the dangers, and talk with your children about them. Don't make it a gloom-n-doom conversation, but make sure they understand that it's still a risk. And, as always, keep those anti-malware programs up-to-date!
Good Writing, there, Bruce! I'll be back again!

Any website that contains a social networking system mean that all users are prone to scams, harassment and grooming. However, online browser MMOs can be especially dangerous. This is because they rarely leave any traces of the communications on a computer. So in order to identify any potential evidence the investigative team need to locate and enter the browser in question to access the mails. This can be difficult because some children conceal their browser MMO activities and ensure that their browser do not record the history of core online websites; an unfortunate reality is the case of where children commit suicide or simple go missing. In addition, some browser MMOs only store communication messages for a set number of days (Evony for instance is ten days); they automatically delete after this time period. The likelihood of law enforcement officers protecting the safety of children when potentially incriminating evidence automatically deletes speaks for itself. As browser games are international by design, they present a perfect platform for undesirables.

Unfortunately many gamers are incapable of separating the social networking element from the game element. In addition because users can cause virtual damage to an opponents assets, it promotes users to intimidate and threaten others. It is this that generally leads to cyber harassment becoming rampant and unchecked in many browser based MMOs. Indeed some users play browser MMOs because it permits them to harass and intimidate others with impunity. So the thrill of some browser MMOs has nothing at all to do with the game and everything to do with the way in which the game can be manipulated into cyber harassing others within the MMOs social networking systems.
