"Also they seem not to have adapted well to the brand building necessary when you create original IP."

Touché. We can see this in action especially with Dragon Age now. Blood spatters, metallic sounds and Marilyn Manson in the trailers – it's like a bad joke. First time in years, I'm concerned about a BioWare game...

Brian you always write about a article that makes you yawn?

Do you always take time out to write three paragraphs on a article that you challenge as being news? I'd hate to see how much you write about something that is news to you. If it is so unimportant you would not have written. It did get a rise out of you even if you hate Microsoft, and EA it motivated you. So.....

Nice one, Bruce. It'd be interesting to see if this comes to fruition, how it might impact the online games market. Microsoft is light on heavy titles, and EA has experience launching them. Come to think of it, I can't think of a single memorable MMORPG released by Microsoft. This is fragile territory for them.

*yawn*

Hmm, i'm sorry..this is news?

EA been on the wrong side of the hate stick for years, at this point the EA headquaters could burn down to the ground and i very much doubt that many gamers would care.

MS has also been on the bad side of..well..PC users for years. Sounds like a match made in hell to me.

Whatever, EA will still chug out the same game with improved graphics for the kidies to drool over...only they'll be owned by MS...big deal.

Great points Bruce, especially the one on if they don't some one else will. I think that Apple along with other large companies want a piece of the video game pie. They dont care that it is previously a two horse race, and for the last two generations has been a three horse race. They want in. Especially Apple! Maybe a China, or Korea based company may want it. This would be perfect economics by them by the way. I don't see why it has not happened yet.

I think Microsoft will spend the money just because they KNOW Apple has set sight publicaly on them!
This is the wa to attack microsoft at home on the PC, and Console, as well as handheld. Also microsoft will have built in exclusives, all while address the crique of their in house development houses.

Ever since Peter Moore went to EA I have wondered if it has a second reason. He can come back to get promoted in Microsoft (he still has the Halo tatoo). He would be automatic due deligence (just kidding).

I hope someone buy EA soon. The game industry had enough of months-long crunch mode, and EA influences other companies on this regard. Crunch is for very short periods when needed, not for 6 to 9-months all the way through. This is stupid.
