Would the omission of video games have anything to do with the idea that people - especially young people - are being urged to get off their backsides and participate in sports, the arts, etc? Experience something beyond their 'comfort zone' of reality television, video games, social networking sites? Realise something other than boredom and disengagement? This is my understanding of a cultural olympiad: engagement. Is it such a bad thing that video games get no mention?
