Although disagreeing with the views of the author about DRMs, I'm rather fine with 100% online shopping as long as the prices rightfully reflect the loss of the physical support.
At least it would leave only devs and publishers in the dance, good riddance of those money vampires at the end of the chain.

Agree with you in principle Bruce. As stated before, I'm up for "STEAM" style digital downloads across the board (I've got this huge hard-disk attached to the side of my 360 currently doing nothing constructive at the moment). I understand that Virtual OS's server based game access will eventually becoem the future, whether we like it or not (still think it will be hacked mind). However, I do have a few issues with it, and it has nothing to do with the service or the DRM related issues that will probably crop up. No . . . . I'm more worried about the possible infrastructural issues. I remember when i had cable, there were times when I had no broadband for upto two days at a time due to outages and technical probelms. I know people with the current cable provider who have been having similiar issues in the South-East. If everything was server-based, and an outtage (as rare as you may argue will occur) happened, what then? I can already forsee a time when Windows is completely virtual and if i wish to log into excel etc. i must go online (already their already, everythime i need a new worksheet on 2007 im logging in). By all means i have no problems saying bye bye to all the scratchable disks and plastic boxes currently cluttering up my house and paying for my content to be online, but I would still ike it stored on a hard-disk so i can access it anytime.

Good post mind.
