I know you're not stating it, Bruce, but your article could be read by some as 'the Wii is doomed'. What will be interesting is how Nintendo react to the 'inevitable' HD revolution. Do they already have in place a solution (a Wii HD add-on, for example) or are they so convinced in their ethos of 'quality will out' that they continue as they are? They've already been stung with resting on their laurels in the past (I present the PS1, m'lud) and Microsoft and Sony (despite their PS3 problem) are just too powerful for the Big N to just ignore. What do you think, Bruce?

I personally don't believe the HD switch will be an "event" but rather an increasing stream or trickle. Don't forget we're heading into a massive global recession and HD hardware is still quite pricey. Plus there are the statistics that even customers with HD television aren't really aware of what they have and aren't using it properly. Then there are stupid decisons like not shipping the PS3, an HD gaming console, with an HDMI cable.

I agree that this year and next we'll see a bigger uptake, but there won't be one single event which pushes it past its tipping point, I recon. Based on nothing but intuition, I admit, but sill.
